About Us

Our Mission

Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease among U.S. children. Despite this, cancer research is continually underfunded because childhood cancers are “too rare” based solely on the number of people affected.

The Lucy Strong Foundation was created to increase awareness around the lack of funding for pediatric cancer while raising money to support cancer research and to provide comfort to families affected by this disease.

Our People

The Lucy Strong Foundation is made up of hundreds of people, all coming together to help cure pediatric cancer.

We are family members inspired by the memory of Lucy’s courage, unyielding spirit, and infectious smile.

We are friends and neighbors who helped Lucy build Lego castles and watched her bounce and bounce (and bounce) on her backyard trampoline.

We are doctors, nurses, therapists, and other caregivers who treated and entertained Lucy during hundreds of days in the hospital over five and a half years.

Together, we work to raise money and do everything we can to help fund new, more effective treatments for pediatric cancer in honor of Lucy’s memory.

Our Impact

The Lucy Strong Foundation works to make an impact in two ways: by providing money to fund additional pediatric cancer research, and by distributing purple-wrapped presents (Lucy’s favorite color) on Lucy’s birthday to children and families currently undergoing cancer treatments.

Children receiving cancer treatments need to remain in the hospital for months at a time. This is hard on both the child and the family, some of whom need to temporarily relocate to a different city – or even state – in order to get the best treatment possible. Like all children, Lucy loved getting presents – but she also loved giving them. So, to bring a little bit of joy into the lives of children during these long inpatient stays, we deliver purple-wrapped presents to hospitals on Lucy’s birthday.

Over the past three years, we’ve delivered over 500 presents to children of all ages, and plan to continue – and expand – this tradition as we grow.

Presents Delivered

Together, we can help end pediatric cancer.

We made our first donation to Seattle Children's Hospital – a check for $100,000! – earlier this year.
